Linux Watch  There are a lot of smart and very generous people on the internet who both talk the talk and walk the walk for open standards and public domain applications.  In our minds the foremost among these are the people who have developed and continue to develop the Linux operating system and Linux software applications.

For the uninitiated Linux is a public domain Unix like operating system that runs on Intel or Intel clone PC's plus several other less commonly used RISC processors. At one time and mostly still today, Unix is the operating system at the heart of the Internet, so everyone needs to pay some attention to it.

A fast PC running Linux and X-windows has the look and feel of a Unix workstation including all of its warts, but also all of its innate computing power .  More importantly it will run some very good public domain Unix/Linux software applications.  We"ll talk more about the software application later, but first lets again acknowledge those hearty Linux and X-windows developers, who face the daunting task of trying to provide updated drivers for new video cards and peripherals with very little or no support from the manufacturers.
We've listed a few Linux related resources on the Web at the bottom of this page and for extra help you will find that Linux guru's maintain some very serious discussion on Usenet newsgroups like
comp.windows.x.i386unix  and comp.os.linux.x and similar comp.os.Linux groups for networking, hardware, etc.
Real Linux guru's are passionate about their OS and may occasionally slip into some name calling, but the newsgroups have very serious discussion and Linux development continues at a rapid pace.

So why should Wind-doze be the only thing on today's high capacity hard drives,  we should have both the mainstream and the avant garde Linux in more computer boxes.

Our interest here at
