Mission and Purposes of the Foundation
 
Mission Statement

The Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation's Mission is to protect the natural heritage, spectacular scenery, and agricultural character of our county and the surrounding area. 
 
Purposes

For current and future generations, the Foundation seeks to maintain the essential character of Jo Daviess County and the surrounding area, which combines a diverse natural heritage, spectacular scenery, and a strong agricultural community, by:
 
1. Teaching the benefits of land stewardship through land-based education and demonstrations of land resource conservation. 

2. Protecting land through purchase, lease or easement, so that stewardship can be practiced. 

3. Supporting recreation that promotes appreciation of our natural resources. 

4. Encouraging, promoting, and supporting the organization of a county conservation district or similar entity. 

5. Cooperating with schools, universities, agricultural and forestry organizations, conservation groups, service organizations, and others who support our mission.
