A Local Organization
Dedicated to Protecting a Very Special Landscape
In the northwest corner of
Illinois lies a unique and scenic spot unlike any other part of the
state. Untouched by the last glaciers, Jo Daviess County has
striking topography of ridges and valleys and Mississippi blufflands.
Small, picturesque farms and historic towns dot the
countryside.
The Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation is a non-profit organization,
founded by area residents for the purpose of protecting this
extraordinarily beautiful piece of the Midwest. Its mission is to
protect the natural heritage, spectacular scenery and agricultural
character of the Jo Daviess County area.
The Foundation’s members realize that we can’t take this
beauty for granted. Insensitive development can ruin scenic views,
destroy plant and animal habitat, remove valuable farmland from
production, and ultimately reduce the area’s quality of life.
