Join The Land
Stewardship Registry Program
If you have a deep love for your
land, care about conserving its natural resources, and consider
yourself a good steward, you deserve to be recognized. The Jo
Daviess Conservation Foundation's Land Stewardship Registry Program
gives you that recognition through a voluntary, non-binding
agreement. By agreeing to conserve your land to the best of
your ability, the Foundation will provide:
|
- A Certificate of Enrollment
- Map of the Property
- Description of Your Property
and Its Attributes
- Information on Good Stewardship
Practices
- Registry Sign to Post on Your
Land, Signifying Your Good Stewardship
|
Who Is Eligible?
Landowners are eligible to participate in the Land Stewardship
Registry Program if their property is located in Jo Daviess County
and possesses cultural, scenic, historic, or ecological values of
note. The Foundation's Land Protection and Management
Committee will make the final determination based on its Land
Protection Criteria.
Will Public Access Be Required?
Absolutely not. Enrollment in the Land Stewardship Registry
Program does not provide public access to the designated area.
As with all private property, visitors must consult with the
landowner. Representatives of the Jo Daviess Conservation
Foundation will visit the property on an annual basis, scheduling
these visits with the landowner. The landowner assumes no
additional liability as a result of enrolling in the program.
Is the Program Legally Binding?
No, it is a voluntary agreement that may be canceled at any time by
the landowner. We do ask that while you are enrolled in our
Land Stewardship Registry Program, you let us know if you plan to
sell or transfer the land.
Other Conservation Options
There are other, more permanent conservation options available to
you, such as a conservation easement. This is something you
might want to consider in the future--a legal agreement that may
result in tax benefits for you as a private landowner. Contact
the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation for further information. |
